To become a Hospital Corpsman you must have U.S. citizenship, a high school diploma or equivalent, normal color perception, vision correctable to 20/20 and meet eligibility requirements for a security clearance.

Yes, roughly the same as any other job in the navy. There is usually a rotation of 3 years sea duty and 3 years shore duty. Sea duty you will deploy more often than shore duty. In my circumstances I was deployed 6 months out of the year.
